Celebs turn to social media to endorse products,
Sonam Kapoor tops list: Report
With social media gaining popularity every second, Bollywood celebrities are using it not only as a medium to express themselves. Celebs these days use social media to promote the brands they endorse. Actress Sonam Kapoor has emerged as the biggest brand promoter according to ‘TO THE NEW Digital celebrity index' for the month of September.
According to a report, 32 of Sonam's 144 posts across social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram were basically promotions for various brands. This means 22% of her posts spoke about the brands she is a face of. On Twitter, 10% of Sonam's tweets were dedicated to endorsements where she rigorously promoted brands like L'Oreal and Vogue.
Coming close to Sonam was ‘Gunday' actor Ranveer Singh. 17 out of 47 posts by the actor were his way of endorsing products.
The photo sharing app Instagram has less engagement than Twitter or Facebook. Only 25% of the actors use Instagram as a mode to mention brands.
Actor Hrithik Roshan was the first runner up in the contest. He had promoted his in-house brand HRX with Tiger Shroff recently on various social media websites.
Bollywood celebs posted a total of 42 brand related tweets. Apart from the aforementioned celebrities, Yami Gautam, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Shraddha Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar also used social media as a platform to endorse products.
